　　我特別喜愛新聞英語。原因很簡單：我是靠新聞英語起家的。從1947年到1958年，我在新華社翻譯部工作，歷時12年。這12年的工作為我后來的學(xué)術(shù)研究奠定了堅實(shí)基礎(chǔ)。我撰寫《文學(xué)翻譯原理》、《英漢比較語法綱要》、《英語句型的動態(tài)研究》等書，靠的就是那一時期的實(shí)踐經(jīng)驗。我的經(jīng)歷說明，學(xué)習(xí)新聞英語是學(xué)好英語的最有效的途徑之一。新聞英語生動活潑地反映了各國人民日常的政治、經(jīng)濟(jì)和文化生活，是一種包羅萬象的英語。其中既有政論英語，又有科技英語，既有法律英語，又有財貿(mào)金融英語等等。這些都是青年學(xué)生在改革開放的今天所迫切需要學(xué)習(xí)的東西。但是，新聞英語又有它自己的特殊寫作方法。初學(xué)者在閱讀新聞時，往往遇到很大困難。因此，需要有一部好的教科書，來指導(dǎo)青年學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)新聞英語。
